Your photography is good, but I can see what you are talking about with the lighting. It looks like the sliced pieces have a lighter crumb than the rest of the loaf. Looks like your Anadama turned out good though. Have fun baking!

Pics look good but you need some more light in the front. Try a Walmart clip on desk lamp with a daylight balanced CFL bulb. Email address on my blog if you need camera help. My Anadama loaf just quick snapshots, no time this weekend for the big cameras.

I'm in the process of doing a fresh second batch, two loaves this time. I went to the store to get "light" molasses but all they had was "Fancy". No indication of light or dark. Bought a carton anyway (like the new pour spout showing up on milk-carton style boxes). It's a bit lighter than the "cooking" molasses I had on hand - dark, rather bitter stuff - so we'll see how that turns out. I'm taking lots of pics in the process so I'll make a whole step-by-step entry not so focussed on the Challenge end. They'll be heading into the oven in about an hour.

Looks good - beautiful pictures! I found a light flavored molasses and found that the bread is pleasantly sweet, but doesn't really taste of molasses. We've been eating it plain or with peanut butter (husband) or maybe jam (me). Made a great breakfast!

This looks great! Mine looks very similar:) I have one loaf almost gone and the other we gave to my aunt. The bread was so good and so different from what we have had before.

Can't wait to get to the next one,

I got my book today (Mother's Day gift to myself) and I've just finished reading all the technical stuff. Looking forward to baking this on Monday.
